/var/adm/crash

I have 4 crash directories in /var/adm/crash which are crash.0, crash.1, crash.2 and crach.3. Can these subdirectories safely be removed? They are all over a year old.

Re: /var/adm/crash

If you have no further use of them , you don't need any analysis , then they can simply be removed .

Yes you can safely remove them. Each of them were saved at one point or another when you're system crashed. If you had them analyzed or dismissed the reason for the crash, you can now remove those directories.

Re: /var/adm/crash

Hi Tom,

Certainly, if you have no further need to evaluate them, then by all means remove them.

Re: /var/adm/crash

Hello Tom.

It is safe to delete those directories. Moreover it is even recommended to revisit /var/adm/crash from time to time and clean it. Otherwise in case of new crash you might face the situation when you won't have enough space to save recent crash dump.
Especially if they are over 1 year old.

Hope this helps,
