/var/opt/ignite's big files

Hi,

is it safe to delete archive.include and flist - they are pretty big...

You mean
/var/opt/ignite/recovery/arch.include ?

Yes you can delete it, but its probably really not that BIG, unless you are thing 1970's BIG.

Hi,

thank you for your answer, I'm looking with:
#find /var -type f -size +20000 after "big" files, so archive.include was about 23MB - I don't know how big was a big file in 1970 - I was born in 1970 - but in 1990 when I've seen a 1,44 M floppy I thought - man, that's BIG :-))

You can probably delete it.

I would not count on that space though. The next time you make an Ignite make_sys_image, either for Golden or make_tape_recovery purposes that file is going to come back.

I remember when all my word processing docs fit on one 1.44 inch diskette.

BIG today is anything in the 100's of megs. Big in the '70s was anything approaching 1 meg.

You would have to have a LOT of files, some VERY long file paths or a combination of both to have arch.include be 23Mb's!! It's just a list of what WOULD be included in a make_recovery.

before you delete it, do a "wc arch.include" on it.
