VDisks, presented from EVA are see as UNCLAIMED UNKNOWN hsx

I presented some vdisks from EVA, but they are seen as somewhat hsx devices, not as disks. type of OS in Command View for this server is set correctly. On other servers I have not problems with vdisks. Secure Path I removed. What's wrong?

Re: VDisks, presented from EVA are see as UNCLAIMED UNKNOWN hsx

Shalom,

Without data from your command, please consider the following:

Systems without LUN0 assigned sometimes pick up the disk array as a disk, and then its not a disk, this triggers an error message.

Assigning a LUN as LUN0 eliminates this issue.

This condition can result from improper zoning of the SAN, leading other systems disks to be detected.

Can I get a look at the ioscan output?

Re: VDisks, presented from EVA are see as UNCLAIMED UNKNOWN hsx

Please provide a full

# ioscan -fn

hsx is the secure path driver, once removed you will see the device as UNCLAIMED UNKNOWN until the next boot - then it will disappear.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: VDisks, presented from EVA are see as UNCLAIMED UNKNOWN hsx

From the manual:

"hsx driver├в An array-specific driver that provides paths from an HBA driver
for specific arrays up to the swsp driver. This driver manages the separate
paths to a LUN and encapsulates array-specific knowledge, such as specific
commands to migrate a LUN from one controller to the other. The hsx
driver supports HP StorageWorks HSG and HSV controllers"

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: VDisks, presented from EVA are see as UNCLAIMED UNKNOWN hsx

Torsten, disks from EVA were earlier unpresented from servers, then we uped firmware version. Then I presented some disk to some another servers w/o problems. Now I try to present to this server. I removed SP and removal procedure rebooted server. But hsx left

Re: VDisks, presented from EVA are see as UNCLAIMED UNKNOWN hsx

How did you remove SP and what version was installed?

Looks like a partial removal only to me, since the hsx driver is still there.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: VDisks, presented from EVA are see as UNCLAIMED UNKNOWN hsx

I presented disk and then remembered that I heed to remove SP - it was 3.E. I removed it via swremove and after removal swremove asked to press OK to reboot. I rebooted. May be I need to unpresent everything and reboot again? But how to remove hsx then? I do not see SP in swremove menu

Re: VDisks, presented from EVA are see as UNCLAIMED UNKNOWN hsx

Please post

# swlist

and lets see what is there.

Maybe we try some other swlist commands like

# swlist -l product
or
# swlist -l bundle
later.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
