Veritas and single user mode
I have had my boot disk go bad and I am attempting the following, boot from the mirror drive and at the ISL prompt enter hpux -is -lq (8/4.8;0)/stand/vmunix and it starts to go through the procedure of booting when I get the following message panic VFS_MOUNTROOTS failed NEED DRIVERS ???
First can sometell me what drivers and secondly tell me how to add the drivers via command line with ISL.

Re: Veritas and single user mode
hi Shane,
If your mirror disk was okay, it shoule not have been asking you for any veritas driver. Try this procedure,
At the boot prompt type bo alt to boot thru your mirror disk, if the alt path is set to the mirrored disk. Otherwirse use the path to the mirrored disk,
bi path_to_mirror_disk
Select y to interact with ipl.
then at the ipl prompt type,
hpux -is -lq (;0)/stand/vmunix
you can also try to boot thru the backup kernel if the original kernel is giving some prob,
type,
hpux -is -lq (;0)/stand/vmunix.prev
What is the path of your mirror disk.
If required you can boot into lvm maintainance mode,
hpux -lm (;0)/stand/vmunix
Remeber to reboot the system using reboot and not shutdown if you boot into lvm maintainance mode,
reboot -h
to shutdown the system from lvm maintancence mode.
Hope this helps.

Re: Veritas and single user mode
Hi shane,
Try to boot without the -is option,
hpux -lq (;0)/stand/vmunix
Once booted check the lif command on your mirror disk,
lifcp /dev/rdsk/cxtydz
here cxtydz should be the device file for you mirror disk.
Hope this helps.
