Veritas Netbackup media labelling

1. What is the step by step process of manually assining media labels in Veritas netbackup V 5.1 .
2. Also what is the maximum media ID lenght.
bplabel man page says that media label cannot be more that 6 alpha-numeric. If I want to have media ID of more than 6 characters what is the solution
