veritas problem

Hi,
Actually i am new guy in veritas .my question may be very simple for you. i just want to know about this command ie vxmake .i know the function of vxmake but not able to understand the tag
(-U fsgen).basically this is used for make mirror volume and striped volume.so pls tell me if i used this tag(-U fsgen) then will i have to mention any layout tag with vxmake command.
