Veritas Restore attempt - Fail Code 10 (Allocation failed)

See attached screen capture.

We have an HP-UX v 11.11 (64 bit) Master server with 6 gigs of Ram.

When attempting to restore more than an X amount of files in 1 chunk, we get Allocation failed (within 10 seconds of clicking "restore").

We've been told by many people (besides increasing some kernel parameters which helped a small bit) to increate our physical ram, increase our physcal ram, increase our physcal ram. I personally think that if this is the only solution then Veritas (the company) needs to re-engineer it's product. How come one of the top 5 biggest software companies in the world cannot make a product that is able to backup 500,000 in 1 chunk ?

They had that many files in the 80's and early 90's and I'm sure fbackup can back up those files. What's wrong with veritas netbackup ? Why does it need to load all those files into "memory" before it even loads the F***ing tape ?! Stupid!

Any of you have any ideas as to what could help, please do, cause we have an order for 6 more gigs of ram. Meaning that we would need 12 gigs of ram to backup 500,000 files...! Whoo hooo we're in 2005 and that's like the same thing as having 4-500 gig databases!

Please help!

Hey Mark, just had to ask ITRC experts.
