Versioning System

Hello all.

I??m curious about the versioning system HP used with their software. For example: what is the correct meaning of each numeral/character on a "B.10.20.18.AJ" fileset? (X.25)

For example "B"=revision, "10"=xpto and so on...

Thanks.

Re: Versioning System

The B.xx.xx part just states the HPUX operating system version the fileset is applicable for.

Hence, nowadays, it would always be B.10.20 (on your old machines), B.11.00 or B.11.11 .

If I'm right, the rest of it denotes the revision. I don't think there's any further significance in these separate digits, since I've seen the weirdest strings, which had nothing in common :-)

My guess is the revision number formatting may differ from product to product..

Re: Versioning System

Hum.

I also asked IBM and they gave the following answer, taking as an example, their Communication Server bundle, 6.0.1.2:

Version.Release.Modification.Patch.

Does anyone knows how HP implements that with their sw filesets?

Thanks.
