Re: Very strange problem - JavaServer won't start now.

Hi,
did you recently installed something like ITO agents or tivoli agents?

On some platform/release there are some memory leak and semaphore leak, that won't let other apps start.

When the app is down, check shared memory and semaphores:

ipcs -ma

ipcs -s

and see if there is anything strange.

Which java server are you using ?

Could be memory leaks; generate the following outputs regularly and see if the first column for any process is growing over the time:

UNIX95= ps -e -o "vsz args" |sort

Re: Very strange problem - JavaServer won't start now.

Thanks for the tips. Actually, I saw that "tripwire" had been installed recently. Since that seemed innocent enough I dismissed it right off since it was also installed on similar systems running same apps. However, Maybe I should do some testing to see if that is the cause on this system by shutting it down for now. Once again Thanks.

Oh, PS. This is BEA/Tuxedo Version 5.1 JavaServer.

Re: Very strange problem - JavaServer won't start now.

Our Tuxcedo apps ( don't remember the version) are a proven memory leaks. It takes about 2 weeks to begin slowing the server.
We shutdown and restart our tuxedo apps weekly, and since have no issues. We've elected to live with this, but have to stop and start them regularly.

Re: Very strange problem - JavaServer won't start now.

Well, I think I have a temporary fix. I did this and now things seem to come up just fine and can be stopped and restarted. I think someone hit it on the nose about some other app or something blocking it ? However, this is an L-class with tons of free memory and other resouces hardly being used.

cp /opt/java1.2/jre/lib/PA_RISC2.0/hotspot/libjvm.sl /opt/java1.2/jre/lib/PA_RISC/classic/libjvm.sl

Thanks all for your advice and input.
