Is it possible to vgexport a VG from Itanium (rx4640) running HP-UX 11.23 and vgimport it to a PA-RISC (N4000) running HP-UX 11.11?
I presume it works from PA-RISC to Itanium.
Thanks....

Solution
Joe, it works fine from Pa-risc to Itanium without having to comply to something extra.
I just check the man pages for vgexport and vgimport and it does not make a different on which platform you are using, so you should be fine.
Regards,
Jaime.

Re: vgexport/vgimport from Itanium to PA-RISC
Hi Joe:
While the LVM 'vgexport'/'vgimport' will work without any problems, be aware that your VxFS (JFS) filesystem may use a layout version that is not supported on 11.11:

Re: vgexport/vgimport from Itanium to PA-RISC
I don't think it will work with the (JFS) vesions. I had this problem when I wes setting up EMC clones. I had to create the file systems on the 11i system then export them and import them on the 11.23 system. I could then export the file systems and then import them on the 11i systems.
