Virtual Arry SPACE Problrm

Hi all,

I have one virtual array 7100 with 18GB X 10 disk i.e. 180 GB storage. But during the configuration I am getting only 123 GB disk space only. 46 GB disk space virtual array is keeping for the redundency.

I have configured like this (Auto-Raid, Without hot spare).

How to reduce the redundency space?

Regards

Re: Virtual Arry SPACE Problrm

Hi,

If you are using RAID level 5, then it is normal for 75% usable space and 25% parity if in a 3:1 ratio.

From http://www.hp.com/products1/storage/disk_arrays/midrange/va7100/overview/index.html, there is no mention that VA 7100 can support other RAID levels.

Unless you are using RAID level 0, otherwise you will be expecting at least 25% redundancy for RAID 5 and 50% redundancy for RAID 1.

Hope this helps. Regards.
