Virtualization on HP-UX 11i v3
Are virtualization capabilities available on entry level HP integrity servers ?
Other vendors uses hypervisor firmware to implement virtualization.
Does HP uses hypervisor or something else ?
Thanks,
Raj

Re: Virtualization on HP-UX 11i v3
"Are virtualization capabilities available on entry level HP integrity servers ?"
but not "...on HP-UX 11i v3".
Not yet. Not on entry level servers. HP Integrity virtual machines are currently only available for 11.23. You have to be patient ...
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Virtualization on HP-UX 11i v3
These are the components that make up HP's Virtual Server Environment:
http://h71028.www7.hp.com/enterprise/cache/258397-0-0-0-121.html
Basically all this can be applied to entry level Integrity systems except for:
Hard Partitions (nPars)
Virtual Partitions (vPars)
Utility Pricing Solutions
Those 3 components are only available on mid-range and high-end Integrity servers, i.e:
rx7620/rx7640
rx8620/rx8640
Integrity Superdome

Re: Virtualization on HP-UX 11i v3
yes, for Integrity VMs, the host system has to run 11iv2 at the moment. Guest systems (virtual machines) can run 11iv3 though (or Linux or Windows)
