Virtualization on HP-UX Itanium machines.
Hi,
We have the below three Itanium machines running HP-UX 11.23 and 11.31 (Technical Computing OE) in our project.
Itanium Machines:
rx6600
rx4640
rx3600
Can you please let us know the different options which can be used to create Virtual machines (VM)on these machines.
Thanks
Gab

Re: Virtualization on HP-UX Itanium machines.
purchase HP Integrity Virtual Machines software, and then you can use that to create virtual machines, whioch can support HP-UX, Linux and Windows Guest O/S's

Re: Virtualization on HP-UX Itanium machines.
Hi Melvyn,
Thanks for the reply.
- What I understood from the links that if we want to setup a VM on HP-UX 11i v3 machine then it should have HP-UX 11i v3 (VSE-OE) 0809 (or later) operating system running.
We are running the 11i v3 TCOE on our machines. Do we need a fresh install of VSE-OE 0809 to setup VM on the machines or we can install the VSE package seperatly on TCOE?
2: For HP-UX 11i v2, it says "The Integrity Virtual Machines V3.5 product supports a VM Host on the HP-UX 11i v2 operating system" . Please let me know, if we are running a HP-UX 11i v2(TCOE) , what else is required to setup VMs on that machine?
Thanks again
Gab

Re: Virtualization on HP-UX Itanium machines.
you would need to update to a supported OS version/update, for example 11iv3 0809 (September 2009) is the update release for an HP-UX 11iv3 Host.
TCOE is no longer available for 11iv3, you would need to update to a new OE format, and then purchase HP Integrity Virtual Machines version 4, or purchase an update to VSE-OE for 11iv3
Fo r11iv2, you would need to purchase IVM version 3.5, and possibly also purchase an update to FOE, and the OS version should be at least 11iv2 Update 2 (September 2004 Update).
The respective Release Notes should tell you what is required.
