Hi All,
Is it possible to combine Integrity Blades to form a bigger system using VSE/Integrity VM?
Could they point me to a website or provide document links which this is mentioned?
Many Thanks,
Charlie

Re: Virtualization with blades
With enough memory on the blade you can consolidate several older systems on one plade using Integrity virtual machine technology.
How many depends on how much memory and application memroy use is needed per guest OS.

Re: Virtualization with blades
I'm thinking a different method which is - for example, I have a blade enclosure c7000 which could accommodate 8 x BL860c Integrity blades. Initially I will buy 2 x BL860c for my current requirement, and if I need more processor/memory requirement, I could buy 1 or 2 more. If I need more I/Os, I could buy a blade expansion I/Os.
What you are saying is use 1 physical big machine such as a Rx8400 or Superdome, and then create VMs inside to accommodate the smaller servers.
Why I prefer blades is because it is cheaper to manage (lower power and cooling requirement, easier deployment, less wires, etc.).
Thanks,
Charlie

Re: Virtualization with blades
I was hoping that the document I referenced would provide you with the information you requested - that you can combine smaller servers into one, larger, virtual server. Sorry, I couldn't find a document that spells it out simply enough.

Re: Virtualization with blades
I have found the HP Cluster Platforms. But this is not virtualization. See links below. http://h20311.www2.hp.com/HPC/cache/276446-0-0-225-121.html?jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

Many thanks.

SolutionAll you can do is "split" a blade into multiple virtual servers using Integrity Virtual Machines.

Re: Virtualization with blades
Many thanks Geoff. I now know that this is not possible.

Re: Virtualization with blades
But there is the new blade BL870c - more resources to use in a virtual environment, see
http://docs.hp.com/en/hw.html#HP%20Integrity%20BL870c%20Server%20Blade
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
