Hi,
I am new to the concept of VLAN tagging.
I am trying to configure VLAN over APA without much sucess. According to "HP APA Support guide", VLAN Tagging over APA is supported on 11i v2 with Cumulative LAN patch PHNE_34474. According to the document, after creating the link aggregates, to create a vlan "lanadmin -V create vlanid 333 900" can be executed. But in this case it just fails with an error stating that the link specified cannot be configured in a VLAN. I am unable to test the network connectivity without the tagging because the client's network team has already configured the switches with trunks. As most of you guys can assume, it is not an easy thing to get anything out of the clients!.
In summary, I have two problems,
1. I am unable to configure VLAN over APA on UX 11i v2 on Itanium server with 2*GigE dual port SX cards.
2. I am unable to test the LAN/IP config without configuring the tags because the switch side is already tagged.
So my question is, whether my understanding is correct in statement 2 above. Also, could anyone please share their experience with similar situation and how to get around the LAN connectivity testing with out configuring the tagging.
I would appreciate your help on this as I am working on a tight deadline.
Thanks
Prasanth

Solution
Do you have the latest APA AR0609 (Application Release) installed? The VLAN over APA support has just been released in September, 2006, you must have this AR version to get VLAN over APA support.
Can you post the output of the following commands?
#what /stand/vmunix | grep APA
(You shoud see something like the following if you have the correct version:
$Revision: libhp_apa.a: HP Auto-Port Aggregation (APA): hp_apa.c: AR0609 B.11.23.20.%10 May 16 2006 09:23
)

Re: VLAN Tagging over APA
Hi,
Yes, you are 100% correct. I checked the documentation and it is not supported on the version of APA that I am running.
So would I be able to just create tags and test the config that way rather than over link aggregate?
Thanks,
Prasanth
