Does anyone know about the following?

One of 'ba' claimed as 'UNKNOWN'. I installed a new OS but still has same error.

Your scsi adapter or whatever it is isn't working right.

You may need to install the latest driver off the app cd's or the vendors drive cd or.

The adapter might just have given up the ghost and need replacement.

See if dmesg or /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log gives you anything useful.

td driver is related to Fiber channel card. Seems that either you need the latest driver, you can get this from software.hp.com or from CD, or your card is down.

what kind of server is it and what version of OS you are installing.

Check the "swlist -l fileset |grep -i FCMS" and see what you get. probably you have the friver becasue you are getting the mesg td: ----, but check it anyway.

I read few days ago that there are certain old FC cards whch are unsupported now, so you may be falling in that category if you are installing latest os but your FC card is still very very old, check the compatibility and support compatibility..

Hi,

Physically go to the server and have a look at the slot and find out the card that you have in there. For me it looks like it is not sitting properly or it has a problem. If this is a fiber channel HBA, then it is mostly like that you will have another one on the box. See if it is getting recognized. If so, then it is not a driver issue.

Otherwise, find out the card and install the corresponding driver. You will get the drivers in Application 1 CD.

There should be a power LED on your fiber channel adapter that's lit. Also, only some slots are for fibre channel adapters. Get the product number, A5158A, for example and research.

Last comment about installing a new O/S catches my attention, as does this link:

If you???re still having problems installing the O/S then there's no reason why you can't power down the box and remove all of your plug in cards and attachments, and then reinstall the O/S and expect a successful load. Sometimes this is necessary. Get a current install CD to make things easier. Before adding in your plug in cards, load in all of your patches, add-on modules, diagnostics and quality packs. Then reinsert your plug in cards and re-attach your cables and fibre.

Also, fibre doesn't work from the boot console handler. It???s not like SCSI disks that are detected with the SEA command at the BCH prompt. Fibre only works when you're a run level 3. Have you successfully been to run level 3 yet?

Physically look at the slot, and post the card type here. Alos, what OS are you looking at?
If it is a TachLite Fibre Channel card, have you installed the drivers for the card? On HP-UX 11.00 I believe they are not part of the core OS.
