One of my backups are failing due to no volume change done. This is on my HPUX 10.2 server, using DDS for backups.

What program are you using to make your backups with [fbackup, tar, etc.]? What is the exact error message you are getting?

I use fbackupand once the backup is complete, it says backup failed: no volume change done.

Hi Cordell,

Sounds to me like your backup is filling the tape & requesting a new tape for the remainder & it's not getting it.

What does your fbackup command line look like?

I'm not an fbackup wizard but it sounds like it might be a problem where your fbackup is trying to ask for a second tape.

You may wish to post a copy of the log file that your using if you have one, failing that what fbackup error number is being produced in the standard output.

The error refers to fbackup's ability to request a new tape interactively (because the first one is full) or to run a script identified by the config file fbackup was told to use--and the chgvol script is missing or could not be run. In all cases, the backup is incomplete.

Thanks guys, I figured that was the issue I will just use a DDS that hold more data.
