Volume Management survey

The goal of this survey is to collect information regarding the usage of volume managers on HP-UX 11i systems.
Your feedback is very important to us as HP will be using the data gathered by this survey in our ongoing planning efforts. HP cannot guarantee that any requested enhancement will be implemented in a future release.

The survey is attached in ascii format.

Completed Surveys may be returned to Lillian Hull (email: lillian.hull@hp.com or fax: 408.447.7563) no later than May 8, 2005 in order to be eligible to win an HP-UX polo shirt in a random drawing of survey participants.

Thanks For your Feedback!

Re: Volume Management survey

Oh-uh.

A Volume Management Survey.

Does this mean HP-UX is once more undecided on which path to follow the Volume Management road?

What happened to that HP-Veritas announcement to make VxVM/VxFS the "preferred Volume Manager and Filesystem" on HP-UX 11i last year?

Re: Volume Management survey

Survey has been filled out and sent. It might be nice to add some items for root only features. Example; Since we mirror on our high end systems we only need mirroring for the root volume group, etc.

Re: Volume Management survey

HP-UX 11i offers the choice of volume management products:
HP's Logical Volume Manager (LVM)
VERITAS VxVM

HP LVM remains the default volume manager.

VxVM is the preferred solution for the Serviceguard with VERITAS CFS offerings Fall 05.

HP will cotinue its investment in LVM to meet the critical requirements of the installed base.

While we cannot promise that all requests will make it into the product, your responses will help us identify and prioritize critical requirements for volume management.
