VolumeGroup not active not available

Dear All,

I have L Class with hp-ux 11i installed. I a SAN switch with VA 7400. Due to missing drives my VA was incessible to the Servers. I formatted and recreated the LUN and properly configured the Secure Manager.

Below are the output from the server
I als did insf -e -C disk to create the file but still a mismatch in LVM tab.

Have you taken the vgcfgbackup after last changes were made to the vgs. If not then that could be the reason those disk details are not their in the vgconf.

Since you have manually formatted and created the LUNS.. I would suggest you the export the affected vgs and then recreate them from scratch..

Once Vg are created then you have to restore the old data.. since you already have pv to vg mapping etc so it won't be difficult..

Hi,

If you have formatted and then recreate the LUN, you wouldn't be able to run vgcfgrestore or vgimport (if you have a mapfile).

In your case, you will have to re-create the VG's

How do u create a map file with vgcfgbackup command.I have try the vgcfgrestre - n vgdevapp /dev/rdsk/c23c??? with some of the disk.

Hi,

Since u have recreated the LUNs u have to recreate the VGs.
Before that vgexport the problematic VGs in vgscan.
Then recreate VGs and restore the data from backup.
