1. VPAR best practices and cookbooks if there are any?
2. VPAR documentation - howto's etc... I'd like to skip training and will just ask about a week of hands-on on an rp8400. I reckon, Vpar is just a few commands and an understanding of vpar capable architectures, buses, cell concepts..etc.
3. In my experience -- key to being a successful systems admin/manager is thorough uderstanding of the architecture of the hardware -- are there publicly available documents relating to the platforms that are capable of Vpars (ie... the rp8400 and the SD's?)
Thanks much.

Re: VPAR Advice
Most HPUX technical documentation can be found at this site:
http://www.docs.hp.com
Other sites of interest are:
http://www..hp.com
look under the software and servers sections for more white papers, analyst reports etc
http://us-support3.external.hp.com/iv/data/documents/DE_SW_UX_swrec_EN_01_E/Introduction.pdf
an excellent sys-admin guide written by the German Response centre, including a VPARS chapter
http://h21007.www2.hp.com/dev
A site for developers but contains good white papers and CPU architecture etc.
As for your questions, 1 & 2 are covered very well in the VPAR online documentation on the first link:
http://www.docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/T1335-90012/T1335-90012.html
This covers planning, implementation and best working practises. This should be your first reference point.
For your last question there are numerous resources on the links I gave. There is a "Systems Harware" section on the first link for example. This should keep you busy for a while! :-)
Sorry for the amount of links here, welcome to hpux.
cheers,
James.

Re: VPAR Advice
Most of the sites you recommended -- I've already "mined". Thanks anyway.

Re: VPAR Advice
Just dont forget to install the latest Vpars patches on all nodes - very important. You can find vpars patchs on the ITRC patch database - just search for vpar.
