vPAR and UPS monitor

I am running 2 vPARs on an rp5470. The first vPAR has access to the hardware path that has the serial port for the UPS so ups_mond can monitor and shutdown that vPAR if necessary.

How can I shutdown the second vPAR, the one that is not able to monitor the UPS?

Re: vPAR and UPS monitor

Each Vpar has to have its own resources... I am pretty sure you need to have a separate H/W to access the UPS...you need a second path directly from the VPAR2 to the UPS device.

You cant share H/W or any other resources b/t Vpars... unless you have a shared pool of CPU, which is the only exception that I know of.
Unix, the other white meat.

Re: vPAR and UPS monitor

I suppose that would work since ups_mond is not writing to the serial device, just reading from it.

It would be nice to have ups_mond shutdown both operating systems. I would like to see what HP recommends in this scenario.

cjw,

Take a look at page 27, under "UPS software" in the Introduction:

Re: vPAR and UPS monitor

You probably need to install a MUX card and configure it through that.
What are the chances...
