vpar - memory allocation

Hello,

I have 1 nPar (HP-UX, cell based machine) and I would like to create 3 vPars. Can I define all available memory as ILM without any loss?
For example: I have 10GB and I would like to devide it in the following manner:

vPar1 - 4GB
vPar2 - 4GB
vPar3 - 2GB

Is it possible or some part of memory will be reserved for vpom? Can I use all the physical memory (10GB) for these vPars?

regards
jarek

Re: vpar - memory allocation

Bonjour,

a little part of memory is reserved for vpmon. I don't remember exactly but it is quiet low, 64 Mo or 128 Mo.

Re: vpar - memory allocation

Hi Yarek

please find the following link and go thru the "Top Ten Tips for Designing a VPar"
http://docs.hp.com/en/10586/vParsTopTenTips.pdf
Here on page 7 u can see that if the NPAR is PARISC:
1)vpmon and vpdb takes almost 20- 25 MB of RAM

if the NPAR is Intrgrity the vpmon and vpdb can take about 384 MB of RAM and Firmware linstance for each VPAR takes abot 32 MB

So u can see sometimes the last VPAR loading almost 512 MB Memory short.
