Vpar reboot

Hi,

A vpar in my environment rebooted abruptly. Now what all can I check after the reboot. syslog.log and what all?

Also, can any hardware error ex a memory failure lead to a single vpar reboot and not whole npar to reboot?

Re: Vpar reboot

the shutdown log?
Is there a panic dump present in /var/adm/crash?

And yes, an error in a part of the hardware assigned to the Vpar could cause just the Vpar to come down, but then so could an error in software running on the Vpar

Re: Vpar reboot

well it might, but first see if there was a dump, that may tell you whether there was an hPMC or MCA (Integrity), and also the shutdwon log.

Re: Vpar reboot

I have never checked, but there may also be a /var/tombstones created, depends on your server and OS version I suspect. That may also point toward a hardware error if indeed there was one.
First, check the shutdown log to see if it logged a crash. Someone may have rebooted it by accident?

Another check, if you have the relevant version, do you have the Flexible Administration set to ON? if not, then it is possible someone may have accidentally issued a vpar reset to this vpar from another vpar
