I have one rx2660 server and i want to create vpars on that, is that possible?
does it like that first we need to have npar then only we can have vpars on that? and for npar we should have superdomes aor cell based servers?

Re: vpar related query

Hi,

You do not need npars to create vpars on. vpars can be created on both a physical system as on npars.

However, you are not able to run vpars on an rx2660 as this is not supported. See the Ordering and Configuration Guide for Virtual Partitions for details (pay special attention to page 25):

Re: vpar related query

hi,

thanks for your reply.
So this hardware is not supported for vpars?
can we create vms on that through virtual softwares?
is vpars creation or vms differ or same?

appreciating your response.

Re: vpar related query

Hi,

VPARS

That is correct, vPars are not supported on rx2660 systems. As mentioned in my original post, check page 25 the vPar Ordering and Configuration guide for the supported HW matrix.

HPVM

You can use HP Integrity Virtual Machines (aka HPVM) to create virtual machines on your rx2660.

Introduction:

Installation, Configuration and Administration guide:

VPARS vs HPVM

vPars and HPVM are not the same, check the ITRC thread below for more details on their differences:

Re: vpar related query

Hello,

vPars are not supported on rx2660 systems

You can install HP-UX VSE ( with HPVM)and have created HPVMs on this box.
