1) nPar 0
a. vpar 0
b. vpar 1
2) nPar 1
a. vpar 0
b. vpar 1
All these VPARS are connected to the SAN. We have a SAN upgrade activity. I need to bring down (shutdown)all the VPARS to perform the SAN activity, once the SAN acvity is over i need to start the VPARS again. Can anybody provide me with the detail procedure to start/stop the VPARS within the nPars. Also are there any considerations like start/stop sequence?
Thanks in advance
Shakeer

SolutionOn your Console for each Npar you should then be left with the MON> prompt.
You can then restart the Vpars by doing
vparload -all
or reset the Npar and provided all the autobot strings are set correctgly they should autoboot

Re: VPAR start/stop
Primary Boot Path : 0/0/0/2/0.6.0
Alternate Boot Path : 0/0/0/3/0.6.0
HA Alternate Boot Path : 1/0/0/3/0.6.0
Because if you reset Npar then it may boot as Npar instead of Vpar if boot strings are not correct. You can check boot strings on boot disks for all Vpars.
lifcp /dev/dsk/cXtYdZ:AUTO -
should show like
hpux -lq /stand/vpmon -a
otherwise you can run this command
mkboot -a "hpux -lq /stand/vpmon -a" /dev/dsk/cXtYdZ

Re: VPAR start/stop
Simply login to the each Vpar as root as do normal shutdown as if your doing in non vpar servers. Ensure your applications are properly shutdowned.
For bring up the server,
1. login to the GSP console.
2. Go to cm prompt. run rs for npar 0 and npar 1.
3. both the npar will comes up with default primary vpar.
4. start the other vapr using vparboot command by Login to the both npars one by one by using GSP co command from GSP main menu.
GSP>cm
CM>rs --> nPar0
CM>rs --> nPar1
CM>ma --> to bring to main menu
GSP>VFP ->check both npar till cells comes to hearbeat.
GSP> co ->login to console of both npar and boot the other partition
if you are in VPMON prompt you can boot all vpars by " vparload -all" command
Thanks and regards
