Vpar vs Lpar Partioning Question

An AIX person is pushing a IBM partioned server and is stating that "IBM's p-series servers have better partitioning features than HP's"! Is there truth to any of this...

Re: Vpar vs Lpar Partioning Question

It depends on what your requirements are.

Lpars can be configured with more granularity than Vpars. BUT HP is coming out with a new type of partitioning for the Itanium boxes that is more like Lpars than Vpars. I don't know any real firm details, but I'm sure someone here does.

Re: Vpar vs Lpar Partioning Question

Hi Dan, Hi Patrick,

it is called "HP Integrity Virtual Machines (Integrity VM)" - here is more information:

Hope this helps!
