I have an rx8640 with two nPars each running HP-UX 11i v2. I wish to reconfigure this server into a single nPar system with two vPars. Also, I would like to restore the Ignite backups of the said nPars to each of the newly-created vPars. What are the steps I have to do to achieve this?
Thanks in advance!

Solution
It's possible, but needs some planning.
First you should get the documentation from http://docs.hp.com and study.
Then install vPars software on each nPar, remove one of the nPars, add the cell(s) to the first nPar; create your vPars; switch to vPars mode and finally boot.
You can use your formerly nPar OS as vPar OS if configured properly.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: vpars from npars
Hi Rommel,
You may use the same OS disks as boot disk. But only thing is that you need to install Vpar Software on both Npar before you remove the second Npar.
And make sure that the second Vpar should be configure with ( second Npar's LBA- all). So that you can use the same disk as a boot disk and have all the hardware configured).
Take an IO scan from both Npar and check the device list what and all need to be added while creating the Vpar.

Sooraj
