I install bouth disk HP-UX 11v3 U5 DCOE + vpars.
If i boot npars system boot /stand/vmunix all is ok , but if change enviroment vpars and then boot /stand/vmunix system freez.
Systen no stat MON only freez, no errors nothig.
If i tray boot from local disk then i boot vpmon OK.

The vpars is A.05.05
Firmware Version = 2.72A2 SLI-3 (Z3F2.72A2)

Re: vpmon not boot on san disk

Hi

This is 11.31?

Please list steps that you used to boot a vpar. I.e.,

HPUX> boot vpmon

Also,

a) vparstatus (* please include *)
b) did you run vparenv -m vPars? See vpar config.

fs0:\> vparconfig reboot vPars

I tray install the local disk and then is posible to boot MON, but i need to boot san disk not local. If u use san disk then is no posible to load stand/vpmon.
I means problem is on card but i finde the document when see the card AD222A on rx8640 and if u use the fiwree 3.21a and 2.72 then is posible to booting on this device.
But for me situation is not :(

Re: vpmon not boot on san disk

The agile view of mass storage introduced in HP-UX 11i v3 (11.31) is supported with vPars. However, the lunpath hardware path format and lun hardware path format are not supported for use on the vPars
command line, and are not printed by any vPars commands. You must continue to use the legacy hardware path format that existed in previous vPars releases when using the vPars commands; for HP-UX 11i v3 (11.31), ioscan├в s default output will continue to show the legacy format.

This comment from Vpar admin guide regarding Agile disk arrays.

Looks like you've got something similar going on specific to your disk array. What is the disk array make and manufacturer?

"...ioscan's default output will continue to show the legacy format..."

Boot up with npars, get you ioscan print out and compare it with setboot and bch.

Re: vpmon not boot on san disk

Looks like you meet the requirements regarding HBA EFI firmware and driver and vPars version - how about server firmware?

Please post

MP:CM> sysrev

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: vpmon not boot on san disk

IIRC I hit a problem with the path notation in the past.

Try to use the path directly from ioscan.

You did

-a io:0.0.6.0.0.0.0.4.0.0.01.16.0.0.0.1:boot

but now try

-a io:0/0/6/0/0.0.0.4.0.0.01.16.0.0.0.1:boot

(do not use dots only, but take the path directly from ioscan - including slashes)

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: vpmon not boot on san disk

I run debug mod on EFI and i see the open the kernel and nothing.

HPUX> boot /stand/vpmon
Checking "CurrentfPars_mode": 'vPars' (size 0x6) rtn_stat: 0x1
Checking "fPars_mode": 'vPars' (size 0x6) rtn_stat: 0x1
argc = 1, new Boot String: /stand/vpmon
[0] = /stand/vpmon,
lfs_open: path to open : "/stand/vpmon"
Opening : /stand/vpmon
Boot path /stand/vpmon is a regular file of 57447256 bytes
lfs_open: path to open : "/stand/vpmon"

nothing else only freez system.
