VPN issues with rp7400

We have set up one of our remote locations to access our rp7400 (telnet) over a VPN. Frequently, the remote users receive socket errors. At Cisco's suggestion I have lowered our MTU setting to 1200 and disabled Path MTU discovery, which has reduced the number of socket errors but not eliminated them. Now, Cisco is wondering if the application running on the rp7400 "uses some sort of keepalive that might be multicast and that type of traffic is not going across the VPN tunnel". I have a call into the application vendor, but I wondered if there was something I could check atthe HP-UX level to determine this.

I appreciate any suggestions, thanks!!

Re: VPN issues with rp7400

First thing I would do is make a local connection with the application and run a 'netstat' on your RP7410. Grep for the hostname of the local system. This will give you the ports that our opened during the connection.
