Is this version of ignite that comes with the VSOE distribution vpar aware, meaning a vpar can boot off the WINSTALL image?
Thanks

SolutionMy notes say yes, this Version of Ignite is vpar aware and can boot a vpar and a vpar can boot off one of its servers on the same subnet or via boot helper.

Re: VSOE, Ignite C.7.5.142, is it vpar aware?
I do not think Ignite really cares if a server is a physical server, vPar or IVM.. As long as it can run HPUX you are good to go.
The copy of Ignite that comes with VSOE is no different than the version downloaded from the Ignite website. And the version you got on the DVD is probably already outdated by at least 2 or 3 revs.
Sure there may be enhancements or fixes for something vPar or IVM specific but again, if you are up to date then what difference does it make.

Re: VSOE, Ignite C.7.5.142, is it vpar aware?
Taken from the docs site:
If you are using Ignite/UX for installing or recovering virtual partitions, in addition to adding the vPars bundles to your Ignite server, you need to replace the existing /opt/ignite/boot/WINSTALL file with the vPars WINSTALL file using the WINSTALL_script. (The WINSTALL file is a bootable kernel file).
From what I understand, if I don't replace this WINSTALL, the vPars won't boot. And from what I can see, it does boot the vPars without any problems.
