vswitch bandwith problem
Hi there!
We have VSE installed on two HP Integrity rx7640 servers. We have tested the transfer bandwith between the two hosts (HP-UX 11v3) through a 1Gb ethernet interface. We've got normal result (for example FTP ~70Mb/s ; SCP ~ 50Mb/s).
We created a virtual machine on each host connected via vswitch (simple standard setup). The OS installed on Guests is HP-UX 11v3. The vswitch use the same physical interface of the host.
We have run the same transfer tests between guests to check the bandwith but we got abnormal results: FTP ~ 30 Mb/s, SCP ~ 15 Mb/s.
I know the bandwith drop on virtual layer 5% to 10% but here we got a real problem > 50% loss.
Someone can help please ?
Thanks

Re: vswitch bandwith problem
Some things to check:
1) What version of HP-UX are you running? I assume 11i v3, but which Fusion?
2) Which version of Integrity VM are you running?
3) Are you using AVIO for both guests?
4) Are you using CPU capping on either guest?
5) How many CPU cores are assigned to each guest?
6) How much memory is assigned to each guest?
7) Do you have the latest HPVM and AVIO patches installed for your version of HPVM?
