vxfs daemon

I have been reading about the vxfsd and when it is active usually when disk monitoring or activity is high. I was wanting to find some documentation on the subject.

However, the only thing I have found is a brief explanation from Bill Hassell on a website in the Netherlands...

http://www.dutchworks.nl/htbin/hpsysadmin?h=3&dn=50814&q=adding%20memory&fh

quote....
Q:
> When does Vxfsd consume more processor cycles? has it something do with disk buffering?
A:
The vxfsd daemon handles activity to/from the disk and would be busy with a lot of disk activity, probably with a lot of files being
created and/or removed or extened.

I have searched high and low for a link to some info, if anyone can provide it, I would be greatful with a bunny!!!

Re: vxfs daemon

Todd,

That is a though one, the thing is that it looks like for legal reasons HP can not reveal how vxfsd works, there is a document in the ITRC site referencing the issue KBRC00001069 , but looks like somebody referenced it at this link too:

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=90679&admit=-682735245+1174402929592+28353475

You might want to give veritas a call on this matter.

Jaime.

Re: vxfs daemon

I was afraid that was the answer...

I have my own personal inside joke about HP "borrowing VXFS" and stripping it down to the version that HP runs.

Well Bill's answer is sufficient for my client's needs. i was just curious if there was any documentation on it.

thanks.
