vxfs newfs: no space allocated to device /dev/vg00/rstripe
Dear All,
We are facing the problem while creating filesystem using newfs.
The error/output can be found below.
# lvcreate -L 200 -n stripe vg00
Logical volume "/dev/vg00/stripe" has been successfully created
with character device "/dev/vg00/rstripe".
lvcreate: Warning: The physical volume "/dev/dsk/c2t5d0" is not
available for allocation.
lvcreate: Not enough free physical extents available.
Logical volume "/dev/vg00/stripe" could not be extended.
Run the "lvextend" command to create space on the Logical
Volume.
# newfs -F vxfs /dev/vg00/rstripe
vxfs newfs: no space allocated to vxfs newfs: no space allocated to
Kindly help me out in rectifying the same.
Thanks

Re: vxfs newfs: no space allocated to device /dev/vg00/rstripe
You do not have enough available physical extents on the disk in vg00 (/dev/dsk/c2t5d0) to create the 200 MB volume.
If you post the output of 'vgdisplay -v vg00' we can confirm this for you.
