vxfs vxdump: Error occurred whilst traversing
This only happens ocasionally.
If rerun completes with no errors.
Does anyone know what it means?
scripted vxdump command.
vxdump -0 -f /dev/rmt/1mn -B 600g -u /tmp
BACKING UP FILE SYSTEM = /tmp : DUMP LEVEL = 0 : USING /usr/sbin/vxdump
vxfs vxdump: Date of this level 0 dump: Sun Apr 29 13:37:02 2007
vxfs vxdump: Date of last level 0 dump: the epoch
vxfs vxdump: Dumping /dev/vg00/rlvol5 (/tmp) to /dev/rmt/1mn
vxfs vxdump: mapping (Pass I) [regular files]
vxfs vxdump: Error occurred whilst traversing /tmp: No such file or directory

Desaster recovery? Right !

Re: vxfs vxdump: Error occurred whilst traversing
Note that it is suggested that vxdump be run on an unmounted file system or at least in single-user mode. I suspect that a temporary file was removed during the course of the backup. Backing up /tmp and/or /var/tmp is almost certainly of dubious value anyway.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.
