VxVM boot up error message
new to HP UX 11i, although used 10.2 before and Solaris and Linux for the past 3 years. Bought a D class to refresh my old memory at home.
Installed the HP UX 11i on the D class server. There are not error message during installation, but when I reboot my server after installation, I saw following error message during boot up.
"Starting VxVM restore daemon...
VxVM starting in boot mode...
vxvm:vxconfigd: ERROR: enable failed: Volboot file not loaded
transactions are disabled.
vxvm:vxconfigd: FATAL ERROR: Rootdg cannot be imported during boot
vxvm:vxconfigd: ERROR: enable failed: Volboot file not loaded
transactions are disabled.
vxvm: Vold is not enabled for transactions
No volumes started
"
and
" VxVM general startup ................................................ vxvm:vxconfigd: ERROR: enable failed: Volboot
file not loaded
transactions are disabled.
"
system seems to function well, except VxVM.
if i run /usr/sbin/vxdiskadm to list out disk, there would be an error message "vxvm:vxdisk: ERROR: Cannot get records from vxconfigd: Record not in disk group",
when i ps -ef, there is a process " root 193 1 0 22:09:44 ? 0:00 /usr/sbin/vxconfigd -k -m enable",
thanks for input in any form!!!

Re: VxVM boot up error message
Hi John,
I assume you are not using VxVM. 11i comes with base VxVM and it can slow down system boot up depending on the number of disks you have. I suggest you disable VxVM if you are not using it. To disable it, simply touch a file.
touch /etc/vx/reconfig.d/state.d/install-db

You may be disappointed if you fail, but you are doomed if you don't try
