Not true unless you actually mean to say 11iV1 (11.11). As of VxVM 3.5 rootability became supported. See the release notes:

Hi,

I can't think of reason why you can not use VXVM for yor rootvg/dg.

You need to install VXVM, add a license and run a script to convert your LVM vg to a VXVM dg.

Actually, rootability was available in 11iV1 too. You have to go back to 11.0 for your statement to be true.
