VxVM on HP10 and 11
I know this forum is probably supposed to be for HP's LVM but I was hoping that someone might be able to tell me what versions of veritas vxvm for HP-UX are available/supported. Basically I am writting an application that needs to know abit about any volume groups and I need to support both LVM and vxvm (on HP10 and HP11) I just don't know which versions of vxvm are supported on HP. (there was a big change between vxvm 1.2 and subsequent vxvm version - ie 2.0 + I am hoping that 1.2 is not supported on HP10 and 11)
Thanks alot,
Rebecca

Re: VxVM on HP10 and 11
We have recently installed Veritas
Volume Manager 3.1. There is also
a patch required for 3.1 as well.
this is on HP-UX 11. I am assuming
that the same version is for 10.20
as well.
regards
Michael

Re: VxVM on HP10 and 11
If you aquire VxVM from veritas, you'll have to contact Veritas for support issues dealing with their version of VxVM.
Here's a paragraph from the HP VxVM release notes at http://www.docs.hp.com//hpux/onlinedocs/B7961-90012/00/00/5-con.html
________
Supported Migration Scenarios
HP VERITAS Volume Manager 3.1 is the first HP release of the VERITAS Volume Manager on HP-UX. There is no OS upgrade path from HP-UX 11.00 with VERITAS Volume Manager 3.x (sold by VERITAS) to HP-UX 11i. If you are using VERITAS Volume Manager 3.x on HP-UX 11.00 and you want to use Base HP VERITAS Volume Manager or HP VERITAS Volume Manager 3.1 on HP-UX 11i, you should back up your data, remove VxVM from the HP-UX 11.00 system, upgrade your system from HP-UX 11.00 to 11i, then install HP VERITAS Volume Manager 3.1 as described in this document, recreate the disk groups, and restore your data from backup.
________
Hope this helps
