VXVM problem with Hardware Mirroring
Hi
I have a RP4440 server and I have a smart array controller 6402 .I configured the two exisiting disk in RAID 10,with SA config in recovery shell.
Now the problem is I cannot use VxVM-Vxfs during the installation.I can configure LVM-Vxfs and LVM-HFS. When I chosse VxVM-Vxfs it gave me the error.I have attached the print screen. Please help is that a natural behavior ? can we configure hardware RAID on smart array and then use VxVM ?
Thanks in advance

Re: VXVM problem with Hardware Mirroring
This is a known issue.
Take a look at the document.

You have to use HPUX 11.23 June 2006 release CD. Once installation is done, you might want to have latest version of 6402 driver installed available at

Re: VXVM problem with Hardware Mirroring
Shalom,
If you must use vxvm, you can use vxvm. I'd venture to say the majority still uses lvm. Its not going anywhere and is a viable option though it suffers from the disadvantage that software mirroring costs extra money. But you already have hardware mirroring.
If your system is already configured with applications, you should be able to use the June 2006 bi-annual QPK to update your system to the level recommended in post 1.

Re: VXVM problem with Hardware Mirroring
Thanks for your efforts. But the issue is not solved yet,I am using HP UX 11i (Mission Critical OE 11.23) and the media pack date is "March 2006". Do you belive that the version of media pack cuase this issue?
I am using the drivers located in the OS's DVD in the recovery shell enviroment ,Do you think that I have to use other drivers ?
