VxVM

In order to create vxfs file systems using LVM, is VxVM required?

Re: VxVM

No. The file system is independent of the underlying "container". The exception to this is the Cluster File System (CFS) (which can be thought of an an extension to a vxfs file system) must be housed in a VxVM diskgroup but ordinary vxfs file systems can live in an LVM LVOL, in VxVM, or in a whole disk or disk partition.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: VxVM

Shalom,

Neither is required. You can make a gigantic filesystem on an entire physical disk if you wish.

I generally take vxvm off my systems soon after installting them.
