Wait I/O calculation in HP-UX

Hi,

Can anyone tell me how the wait io value is calculated in sar. Is high wait io value is showing real IO bottleneck in a modern multiprocessor system? I got different opinion from different people.

Thanks in advance...

Re: Wait I/O calculation in HP-UX

Fredric,

You can use # sar -u 5 10 , and monitor the %wio value, %wio will provide wait time details for processes waiting for I/O.

Also, it will be a good idea to use iostat and glance to check the IO bottlenecks as well.

Cheers,
Raj.
