Want to create an ignite tape using a tape drive on a remote server

I need to create an ignite tape on a server that has no tape drive. We have a second HP server that does. Can I use the tape drive on that server?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Jay

Not directly. Make_tape_recovery requires a local tape drive; however, you can setup a box as as Ignite server and do a make_net_recovery.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Hi Jay,

you cannot. You need a local tape drive to create a ignite archive. You can look into creating a network archive if you have a central ignite server.

Hope this helps.

Once you have created the network recovery, you can save it to tape and it should be the same as a tape created with make_tape_recovery.
