Watch tv in HP-UX

Hello,

Is there a way watch TV in HP-UX? I've heard of the A4049A SCSI device that can convert composite and s-video into a stream of some sort. I have HP-UX 11.11 v1 (?) running on a HP Visualize C360. Does HP-UX 11.11 v1 support it?

Possible solutions I have already considered include streaming/broadcasting over a network from a computer with for example a WinTV card. Would mplayer or MpegTV be able to display these streams?

I don't think this dog is going to hunt.

The hardware world for HP-UX based workstations is very limited. What I have done in the past is get mpeg ram viewers up and working in HP-UX.

If you go for a software based solution and pick up your datastream on the Internet, that is possible. Getting some kind of funky hardware working in an older workstation is not likely to work. You need drivers written for hp-ux which I doubt exist.

If however you find a way to make the hardware /driver situation work I'm not saying its impossible. It would probably be a lot easier to get an old PC on ebay though.

Look at http://www.videolan.org
It's a great opensource solution from a French university, with ports to windows and linux.
Maybe you could find some alternatives
My experience with this product is with windows and linux, and do a great job
