we need new hat categories for James

It is obvious that James Ferguson is in a class by himself. He must know way too much and spends way too much time in the forums.

I propose a category of ITRC God at 5000 points and ITRC Lord High Mocus at 10000.

Yea, I've been active a lot recently because I had no training course to give for the last two weeks... I've got one next week and the week after and the week after though, so I'll be a little quiet over the next few weeks..

If the itrc wasn't here I wouldn't have come into work at all!

So by now we have 13 "crowned" people in this forum.

What about a small ringed planet like saturn as the icon next to the crown with a title "master of universe". Let's say for 7500 ?

I think we need this, to keep the crowns in action :)

I agree. I think we do need a new hat category. Hmmm....... What levels would you do. One at 5000 would be good, although Jim is already past that. Maybe another at 10,000. For 10,000 maybe a picture of Zeus or Apollo, something from Greek or Roman mythology? Or how about just letting JIm, or who ever else reaches that mark, pick the "hat" that they want. I mean, if you get that high, why not be able to pick who you want to be.

How about a halo? You could get this at 10000 points and then make an unattainable hat at 25000 or 50000. I do like the idea of being able to choose an unusual hat at 10000. The artist that created the hats could create a few whimsical hats like a propeller beanie, a beer hat(picture two cans with hoses), or just give him an extra crown. One crown for every 2500 you attain.

Let's not wave a red flag in front of a bull here. Would *you* like to be responsible for Jim losing his job, becoming homeless and spending ALL his time on the HPUX forum?

Jim has the capability to reach 50,000 over time, but that might drive him into an early grave. I'd rather not have that hanging over my karma.

You know, I was thinking the same thing myself. I was thinkning that maybe there could be an Emperor hat (after all a King is just an Emperor who lacks ambition!) at 20,000 points and a "Exalted Grand Poobah" hat at 50,000.

20,000 seems awfully steep. I mean, at 10 points a question, he'd still need well over a thousand questions. Unless, of course, you started getting bonus points once you got a crown (you know, 100 points for a magic answer instead of the normal 10). Kinda a reward for being so smart in the first place.

Let's personalize it a little - put a picture of the person who reaches the 5000 point level...then we'll see if they are human or part-machine.

I think James Ferguson is not human, but a computer that automatically searches all known UNIX databases in the universe and comes up with the correct answer...

Some new answers to a repeating topic. In my mind the best solution for HP on this one is to award Jim with a job; and nothing run of the mill either. Talent like this should be rewarded where it counts.

This question had previously also occurred to me. My first idea was an image of a smaller crown on top of another. Had associated king of kings along with Omniback's manager of managers. But thought it a bit too ridiculous to be worth mentioning.

I think the idea that one of the forumers mentioned above about having multiple crowns is a splendid idea, 2 crowns for 5000 and so forth.

Personally, I find James very dedicated to the forum. Am most impressed. I feel that he is constantly striving for perfection of his answers, concentrating on quality rather than quantity of his answers. The number of perfect scores (8-10) he has in ratio to his total number of points speaks for itself.

I have an idea ...
The person scoring the highest number of points at any given time will be a "Guru"
i.e at any point of time there will be only one Guru.
Apart from this we can give specialist titles for people who top various categories like syadmin expert,network expert etc.
And an expert circle can be formed by people who cross 5000 points and a degree of authority can be given to their answers.

I think Karthik's "guru" idea is GREAT!!! That's the best I've heard so far. Maybe HP could do another points category or two, but for the person that is at #1, they are the GURU!
