web console opportunity

When I am connecting to my web console from a computer in the same subnet mask as my web console, I have no problems. Otherwise all I get is the, "server down or not responding" message. In the setup book it said for the initial configuration you must be at the same subnet, but I have the initial config completed.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: web console opportunity

You need to specify a subnet mask that matches the new subnet *and* a gateway/router that is on the new subnet. Like any computer, the web console needs 3 values configured (IP, subnet mask and router).

Re: web console opportunity

Hi Bill, thanks for your help! Is there any way to do this without redoing the initial configuration part?

Re: web console opportunity

Once you are logged into the HP Secure Web COnsole as an adminitrator you can open the Configuration / Network window and change anything you want for network connections.

Re: web console opportunity

There are some simple programs (HPUX and Windows)
to make these changes without using the GUI in beta
versions. This is very helpful for making changes
(and upgrading) a large number of Secure Web Consoles.
There are also some utilities to 'install' the Secure Web
Consoles without going through the initial screens.

Contact Arula Systems (www.arula.com), A HP-spin off
company based on Secure Web Console if any of these
utilities will be useful for you.

Re: web console opportunity

Hi

When you are moving to a different subnet you need to a add a route to the web console.

You can do so with the route command.
