Check this document (docID : KBRC00000940) about 'DNS error - sysquery: query in syslog.log' :
http://www2.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/docDisplay.do?docLocale=en_US&docId=200000080064985
Hope this information can help you.

Re: What does "sysquery: no addrs found for root NS ()" mean?
I have this information in my DNS. I cannot dig out any error. Any valuable advice.
# cat root.hint
. IN NS root.dns1.anicent.net.
. IN NS root.dns2.anicent.net.
root.dns1.anicent.net. 13 IN A 20x.20y.13x.11y
root.dns2.anicent.net. 13 IN A 20x.12y.21x.9y
Thank you.
Best regards,
martin

Re: What does "sysquery: no addrs found for root NS ()" mean?
This happened on your system which setup as primary DNS, secondary DNS or client ?
Is the system run properly before or this is a new setup ? Any update on your system recently ? (eg. patching, software, etc)
If new setup, please check this url (docID : HONCIKKBRC00000042) about 'How to configure a DNS primary server, secondary server and client' :
http://www1.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/docDisplay.do?docLocale=en_US&docId=200000079994038
Hope this information can help you.
Wait for your reply.

Re: What does "sysquery: no addrs found for root NS ()" mean?
My machine is not a new setup and running quite smoothly except yesterday's event. I haven't done any patch since a year ago.
This syslog problem last for an hour and can resume back to normal eventually by DNS itself.
I am trying to dig out the reason for this.
Thank you for your help
Best regards,
martin
