What driver do I need for a HITACHI disk?
Any idea
Cheers
Rich
EMS issued a Problem with a disk.
I understand that it needs sdisk driver and that's what it's got along with a few other HITACHI disks.
Event 100876
Code:0x25 Qualifier:0x00 Key:0x05 Status:0xXX
Device: ALL
Severity: SERIOUS
Event Summary: Software configuration error
Problem Description: The device was unsuccessful in processing the current I/O request because the request contained a logical unit number, which is not supported for this device. The request was not processed.
Probable Cause / Recommended Action: The error most likely indicates that the device is not fully supported by the current driver. This may or may not cause problem in operation of the device.
Component Data:
Physical Device Path...: 8/8.8.0.23.0.1.0
Device Class...........: Disk
Inquiry Vendor ID......: HITACHI
Inquiry Product ID.....: DISK-SUBSYSTEM
Firmware Version.......: 0117
Serial Number..........: 30561
Cheers

Re: What driver do I need for a HITACHI disk?
What this error means is that the firmware on the Hitachi disk wont talk fully to the HP diagnostics. This is usually resolved by upgrading the firmware on the disk, or upgrading the diagnostic software. If you still have this problem you should contact HP and Hitachi so they can resolve (HP and Hitachi should talk together to get it to work).
Im presuming this is a physical disk, not a LUN. If its a LUN then there is a problem between the Hitachi storage unit and the HP diags (theyre not talking to each other fully again), again, contact HP and Hitachi to resolve. This should work fine because all our EMC's use LUNS and we dont get complaints like this from the HP diags. I remember seeing this problem at a site with an Hitachi (HDS) storage array (similar to HP's XP range) and eventually either Hitachi upgraded something on their disk unit to fix it or HP developed a fix in their diags (new version). Afraid I cant remember which.
Im from Palmerston North, New Zealand, but somehow ended up in London...

Re: What driver do I need for a HITACHI disk?
Install the Sep 2002 OnlineDiag package. This release is supposed to addres that problem by ignoring non-HP disk subsystems.
