Hi there,
I'm new to MC Serviceguard and there's this one thing which isn't clear to me, i've noticed our two nodes both have a unique IP address and one "floating". I'm curious about what will happen if for instance node2 breaks down, will node1 take over the unique IP address of node2?
Greetz Danny.

SolutionNo, the other node wont take over the unique of IP of the downed node, but the floating IP will redirect to the active node and all your users should be connecting to your cluster using the floating IP, so no matter which node is up/down the users can always connect via the floating IP.
Im from Palmerston North, New Zealand, but somehow ended up in London...

Danny:
Stefan is right. The floating IP address is the ONLY IP address users should use. Failure to follow this rule will result in a failure for ServiceGuard to provide service --- pun intended for emphasis -:))
