SolutionInternet: web pages shared outside of one's business. Available to just about everyone.
Whilst I don't normally play points policeman, it is in your best interests and of course the interests of the forum in general to assign points to responses made to your questions. Your record is dismal, please take the time to fix it, as people give up their time and resources to help you.
I have assigned points to 0 of 57 responses to my questions.

Re: What is Intranet, how it differes from Internet ?
In general terms, intranet is your company's network. The data available on the intranet can only be accessed by the systems in that network.
Internet is a connection of networks that are meant to share the information publicly (mostly).
Usually companies maintain two seperate networks for security reasons. One network is exclusively for the company confidential and the other for public information. These two networks may be seperated by firewalls so public will not be able to reach the intranet of the company.
Since internet is a connection of networks world wide, TCP/IP was chosen as the standard protocol. The networks that are intended to be hooked to internet have to obtain their IPs from IANA - Internet Assigned Numbers Authority.

As others have said - An Intranet is visible to clients internal to the company. Whereas the Internet is visible to external people.

I am also a DBA, what tools are you working with ?

Re: What is Intranet, how it differes from Internet ?
"There's one major distinction between an intranet and the Internet: The Internet is an open, public space, while an intranet is designed to be a private space. An intranet may be accessible from the Internet, but as a rule it's protected by a password and accessible only to employees or other authorized users.
From within a company, an intranet server may respond much more quickly than a typical Web site. This is because the public Internet is at the mercy of traffic spikes, server breakdowns and other problems that may slow the network. Within a company, however, users have much more bandwidth and network hardware may be more reliable. This makes it easier to serve high-bandwidth content, such as audio and video, over an intranet."

Re: What is Intranet, how it differes from Internet ?
'Internet' used to be a general term for a network of computers, and that's what our company one used to be called.
