Re: what is the different between VsFS and OnlineJFS

Hi,

Online JFS is a purchasable option which extends the functionality of Vxfs. It allows you to do things like extending and defragmenting Vxfs filesystems without having to unmount them.

vxfs (not vsfs) is a filesystem type. HP used to use the old HFS filesystem but nowadays everyone uses vxfs (Journaled file system).

OnlineJFS is a purchaseable suite of tools to manipulate a vxfs filesystem (to increase or decrease it or defragment it). If you dont have vxfs filesystems (you can check in /etc/fstab) then there is no point purchasing OnlineJFS.

Yes, Vxfs is JFS so Online JFS is a special product from HP that allows you to increase or decrease the file system size on line, without unmount it.

It is not free, you have to pay for it.

Very useful.
