What is the max size of an ignite recovery tape using DDS2?

Hi,

It is almost equvalent to the capacity of the tape.

DDS2's offer an average capacity of 4-6 GB with the maximum of 8GB after compression.

No. There is no limit to the tape. And moreover I should have added, it can spawn across tapes if the tape capacity is not sufficient. It basically uses pax to backup the files.

However, we would like to contain the size to as minimum as possible for faster backup and recovery.

The practical limit would be time - i.e. *how* long do you wish the restore to be, before it's cumbersome.
Recovery tapes can span multiple volumes if need be.
But if they get *that* big, you've either have a misconfigured vg00 OR you're backing up non-vg00 VGs that should be backed up with fbackup.

I make an ignitetape with actually two tapes, no problem. The make_recovery program just asks for another tape.
